Copyright & DMCA Policy

Last updated: 6 October 2026

The short version: Only post what you have the rights to. If someone posted your work without permission, report it in the app. If your video was removed by mistake, you can send a counter-notice. Three strikes in a year means a permanent ban.

We respect copyright and respond to notices under the US Digital Millennium Copyright Act (DMCA) and similar laws. Before you send a notice, think about whether the use might be allowed, like commentary, review or parody (fair use).

Sending a takedown notice

Tap Report on the video, comment or profile and pick “Uses my work without asking”. In the details, include:

  1. Your full legal name (this counts as your signature) and your contact details: postal address, phone number and email.
  2. What work of yours was copied.
  3. The link to each thing on PolyTickles you want removed.
  4. A statement that you believe in good faith the use isn’t allowed by you, your agent or the law.
  5. A statement that your notice is accurate and, under penalty of perjury, that you own the copyright or are allowed to act for the owner.

If something is missing, we may not be able to act on it.

What happens next

If the notice is valid, we remove the content and send the uploader a notice in the app explaining why and how to respond. They may see the complainant’s name. The removal counts as a copyright strike.

Sending a counter-notice

If your content was removed by mistake (for example, you made it, you have permission, or it’s fair use), open the removal notice in the app and tap Appeal, or use Report → “Uses my work without asking”. Include:

  1. Your full legal name (as your signature), address and phone number.
  2. What was removed and its link.
  3. A statement, under penalty of perjury, that you believe in good faith it was removed by mistake.
  4. A statement that you accept the jurisdiction of the US federal court for your area (or, if you’re outside the US, any US federal court where PolyTickles can be sued), and that you’ll accept legal papers from the person who complained.

If you’re under 18, ask a parent or guardian to help.

We send your counter-notice, including your contact details, to the person who complained. Unless they tell us within 10 business days that they’ve gone to court, we restore your content within 10 to 14 business days.

False claims

Knowingly lying in a notice or counter-notice can make you liable for damages under US law. Please be accurate. We may ignore people who keep sending bogus notices.

For other rights, like trademarks or your image being used without permission, use Report → “Something else” and explain. See how to report and our Terms.
